Along with its Special Teams, NV-031 includes smaller programs that don't have their own dedicated class time, these smaller groups usually consist of 2-16 cadets each. The smaller groups are normally after-school or before-school activities in which cadets can participate. The smaller groups consist of, Flag Detail, Kitty Hawk Air Society, Novice Color Guard, and the Physical Fitness Team, each group with its own respective time for activities. Flag Detail is responsible for the raising and lowering of the U.S. and Nevada flags in front of the school they are also responsible for making sure that the flags are in good condition and are displayed on the flagpole correctly. Kitty Hawk Air Society is an after-school program that focuses on helping cadets academically by providing tutoring or assistance with classes and subjects outside of JROTC, Kitty Hawk Air Society also offers additional community service opportunities to its members on top of the opportunities that are already provided by the unit. Novice Color Guard is a group that consists of mainly 1st year cadets and a few 2nd-4th year cadets to help give 1st years a 'head start' on knowledge to be in the regular color guard, the 1st years will learn how to march in color guard and perform competition and event sequences the same way color guard does it, this gives 1st years some experience about being in a special team and it helps them improve their overall character in JROTC.
