Founded in 2002, the Boerne Champion AFJROTC unit is currently commanded by MSgt. Scott Newberry and Col. Michael Colvard. The unit website, www.tx20023.com, has been around for quite some time. In the early 2000s, TX-20023 won many competitions with trophies for female and male athletics, rocketry, and orienteering; however, over the past few years, the unit has lost its drive to compete. Known for their dedication to their community, TX-20023 has over 4000 service hours on average per year including library support, color guard, stadium cleanup, and adopt-a-road to name a few. TX-20023's mission statement is "To develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community." TX-20023 demonstrates this by having on average well in excess of 4,000 service hours yearly.

TX-20023 has around 100-183 cadets.
